Case Study

During 2019, we were awarded this project to carry out cyclical internal and external decorations and associated pre-paint repairs to Winchester City Council’s housing stock. We had up to eight directly employed and local operatives on-site comprising painters and carpenters who remained in place for the contract duration, led by a Site Supervisor and overseen by a Contracts Manager.

Scope of Works

  • Internal decoration
  • External decoration including to railings, porches, soffits, fascias and garages
  • Associated prior to paint repairs

Duration

5 Months

Before works commenced, we held talks and pre-start meetings with WCC to discuss all programming, health and safety issues, colour schemes/products and resident safety and security. We had regular communication with WCC throughout the contract, fostering a collaborative working relationship and holding regular site meetings on progress. Monthly team meetings were also held to review all aspects of the contract to ensure compliance with client specific criteria including meeting customer needs, KPI targets and programme.

We were appointed as the Principal Contractor under CDM 2015 and complied with all health and safety procedures agreed from the pre-start meetings through to completion of the project, creating a sensible plan of works so that the risks involved were managed from start to finish. Our Contracts Manager carried out twice weekly site visits to review the working arrangements, ensuring that the works were being carried out in a safe manner, in line with the Construction Phase Plan and site-specific risk assessments and method statements.

We worked with WCC to establish any vulnerabilities or assistance required through our resident profiling process which enabled us to tailor our service to suit individual requirements. Notification letters were delivered to all residents giving them appropriate notice of the works to be carried out along with the scope of works, start date and estimated completion date for each property. The letters included contact details of both Trident’s Site Supervisor and local office so that they could contact us if they had any questions or concerns regarding the works.
