Facilities Management
The Scottish Prison Service (SPS) is an Executive Agency of the Scottish Government. The SPS is responsible for those who are committed to its care and is accountable to the Scottish Parliament for the delivery of custodial care in accord with The Prisons and Young Offenders Institutions (Scotland) Rules 2011.
5 Years
We were pleased to have secured a 5-year full redecoration contract for the SPS covering 14 of the largest prisons in Scotland.
Each building has a joint survey with the SPS Estates Department to agree on the scope of works and the specification to be used. Also, at this stage the best form of access equipment is agreed along with the programme pattern that is most suitable for that part of the prison, which allows for escorting officers to be in attendance. Each operative completes a full SPS site specific induction detailing prohibited items and security processes. This is then supported by operative Health and Safety inductions.
Quality and health and safety inspections are carried out daily with periodic inspections by the Head of Operations in support of joint weekly inspections by the SPS Estates Department.
The standard of work is extremely high with a particular expectation that each work area is left extremely clean when finished after each shift. The SPS requires that each paint application process be uniform to not look part applied which is vitally important when working in areas that are public facing.
