Historic
The origins of Manor Farm date back to the medieval times with the most notable building in the development of the farm the beautiful fifteenth-century farmhouse, home to many generations of farm workers and their families. The historic farmyard keeps the feel of a traditional Hampshire farmstead and offers a valuable insight into times gone by.

Following a tendering exercise with Hampshire County Council (HCC), we were very pleased to secure the redecorations to Manor Farm, a Grade II Listed building which is part of an activity centre and open to the public daily. We were tasked to carry out full specialist limewash redecorations and timber/masonry repairs to the internal and external parts of the previously painted elements of this historic building.
We allocated a team of our own directly employed trade-staff (3 x painters and a carpenter) who are highly trained and experienced in the delivery of heritage works. Applying limewash is a highly skilled activity and takes considerable experience to apply this product correctly. Limewash is a breathable coating allowing evaporation of moisture and water vapour. Limewash is applied externally and internally to historic buildings and applied directly to the masonry or brickwork which must be clean, and porous with previously limewashed surfaces vigorously brushed and scraped off. Limewash should then be applied to a moist surface.
During the pre-start meeting we produced, for the client, a detailed set of risk assessments and method statements (RAMS) supported by a Construction Phase Plan detailing how we would deliver this project. We also produced detailed COSHH Assessments, and once all health and safety processes were agreed by HCC, this became the basis for our safe site delivery.
The property is encased in scaffold with the painting team fully inducted into both site safety and safe systems of working considering the building surrounding the site is remaining open to the public throughout the project.
Weekly, our Head of Operations and the Contracts Manager meet with both HCC’s Regional Surveyor and the Conservation Officer. Each aspect of the work is monitored and recorded to safeguard the heritage status of the property and HCC is to date extremely pleased with the quality and due diligence of the works.
