This contact comprises the internal and external redecoration and associated repairs of various Council-owned public buildings including schools, libraries, museums, care homes, nurseries and community centres across East Lothian.

A key part of the contract is our ability to be very flexible in service delivery and to support the complex and changing needs of the customer, with a total focus on health and safety and delivering high quality works. We have allocated a team of 8x painting and multi-trade operatives to the contract who are directly employed by Trident and highly trained with particular emphasis on health and safety and compliance with CDM 2015 regulations, with an additional 50% of operatives inducted into the contract who we are able to call upon to support fluctuations in workload and to ensure all programme requirements are met.

A recent project delivered was the decoration works as part of a refurbishment project at the Corn Exchange Building in Haddington – a Victorian building used as a community hall/public facility. We were tasked with painting the ceiling and roof trusses which had not been decorated for a very long time, and so the existing coatings were failing badly. We worked closely with the paint manufacturer to prepare a specification that would bring back to life the ceilings in this historic building.

It was important that we factored in how to access the ceilings. The hall has a timber floor, so we therefore engaged with the architect to determine the weight limit that could safely be applied to the floor without causing any damage. We also covered the floor using 25mm plyboard to further prevent damage. The project was a great success resulting in the ceiling being transformed back to its former glory and meeting the programme dates.
