Wigram House is a Grade Listed Building, converted from a late Victorian mansion block and is a Halls of Residence for the University of Westminster, comprising of 174 bed spaces over eight floors.
Previously, the building had been converted into a multi-use accommodation; however, when purchased by the University of Westminster, it required extensive upgrades and improvements comprising of student bedrooms with en suites, and on each floor, fully equipped kitchens and lounge rooms. All required full redecoration to a high-quality specification.
The historic front façade was also redecorated to bring the Victorian building back to its former glory.
With a deadline of the new term in September, the building was a hive of trade activity. Our preference always being for direct employment and with a team of 14 painting operatives, together with a first-year apprentice and two trainees, we achieved the highest in decorating quality. We changed our work pattern to include night and weekend working which allowed the other building trades to focus on their own needs without being concerned for the wet paint!
The project was completed on time and achieved the highest standard to such an extent that this Halls of Residence for the University of Westminster has been submitted to the Painting
and Decorating Association’s Premier Trophy Awards 2020.
