Scottish Prisons

The Scottish Prison Service (SPS) is an Executive Agency of the Scottish Government, responsible for those who are committed to its care by the Courts and is accountable to the Scottish Parliament for the delivery of custodial care. The SPS principal objective is to contribute to making Scotland Safer and Stronger with a duty to protect the public by keeping those who have been sentenced in safe and secure custody

Following a comprehensive tender exercise, we were pleased to have been awarded a 5-year full redecoration contract for the Scottish Prison Service (SPS) covering 14 of the largest prisons across Scotland.

Scope of Works

  • Admin offices

  • Visitor waiting areas

  • Visiting rooms

  • Staff facility areas

  • Prisoner cells

  • Prisoner showers

  • Reception areas

Each operative must complete a full SPS Induction which is carried out by the Estates Department detailing prohibited items and security processes that must be adhered to at all times. Each operative must then complete our own Health and Safety site inductions.

All site surveys are carried out jointly with the SPS Estates Department to establish the scope of works and the specification to be used including all health and safety systems to complete the decorating.

The standard of work is extremely high with a particular expectation that each work area is extremely clean at the end of each shift. Plus, the SPS require each paint process to be uniform so as to not look part finished; this is vitally important when working in areas that are public facing.

Quality and health and safety inspections are carried out daily with periodic inspections completed by our Head of Operations supported by joint weekly inspections by the SPS Estates Department.
