The Wirral University Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is at the heart of the local community and is the Wirral’s largest employer. The Trust has been recognised by numerous national awards in areas including Dermatology, Dementia, Patient Experience, Patient Safety and Scientific Innovation.
Trident has a proven track record of delivering annual painting and decorating projects across the health sector and we were very pleased to secure two projects with the Wirral NHS Trust who were looking for a highly skilled painting contractor, with leading experience of providing internal and external painting and decorating within the Health Sector.
Phase One required full decorations across five wings over five floors at St Catherine’s Health Centre, covering full internal redecorations to office suites, training rooms, consulting rooms, dental surgeries, physio rooms, general medical rooms, general clinical rooms and all communal corridors and stairwells.
All operatives allocated the contract underwent DBS/safeguarding checks before being permitted to undertake the redecorations, which also included full NHS site safety and security inductions. Trident is committed to direct and local employment which ensures consistency in service delivery while achieving the highest in quality.
We worked closely with the Trust’s Estate Team to ensure that we completed the decorations in total safety and to a high Care Quality Commission (CQC) hygienic standard, causing minimal disruption to the patients and Trust staff. By holding daily meetings with the Trust Site Manager, we completed the project around the Trust’s activities while keeping disruption to an absolute minimum.
Working with the paint manufacturer, we used a scrubbable finish to extend the maintenance lifecycles and used a water-based, quick-drying low odour gloss paint on all woodwork.
Phase Two was to refurbish Albert Lodge which consisted of creating training rooms, several office suites, meeting rooms and a new kitchen.
Key to the success was the Site Supervisor working closely with the Trust’s Estate Team whereby they held weekly meetings and together agreed the programme, evening and weekend working and site procedures including site safety which resulted in an excellent finish and within budget. To certify quality, the Site Supervisor also completed daily quality audits which ensured total satisfaction when the project was handed over.
