Introductions

The London Borough of Camden is a borough in North West London and is named after Camden Town, gaining its name from Charles Pratt, 1st Earl Camden in 1795. The borough was created in 1965 from the former area of the metropolitan boroughs of Hampstead, Holborn, and St Pancras.

In 2018, we were very pleased to secure a prestigious fire improvement contract to fully redecorate over 140 high- and low-rise blocks of flats.  To achieve this, we worked in partnership with Crown Paints using their Timonox Flame Retardant Coatings range as a crucial first line of defence against the spread of flame, combined with new fire doors and fire screen.

Scope of Works

  • Class O Flame Retardant (Timonox) Coatings

  • Fire door set replacement

  • New stairwell fire screens

  • Fire Stopping

  • New intumescent fire seals

  • New fire signage

  • Fire proofed meter/electrical boxes

Key to the success of the contract was to keep the tenants informed of the decorating as the works progressed. Using trained Liaison Officers, regular meetings, mailshots and site noticeboards, the tenants were advised of each day’s activity together with all project updates and amendments.

The fire improvement works were completed during 2019 to a very high standard and within budget to the total satisfaction of the Council.
